Purpose

Objective

Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) is committed to safeguarding the academic and administrative interests of its online learners through a fair, impartial and responsive grievance redressal mechanism. The process provides learners with a clear channel to raise genuine concerns and obtain redressal within the prescribed framework.

Composition

The University has constituted a grievance redressal body for learners of online programmes to examine grievances and recommend appropriate action in accordance with University policy and applicable UGC regulations.

How It Works

Procedure

  1. Register the grievance

    The learner submits the grievance through the Student Grievance Redressal form with complete and accurate details.

  2. Initial review and referral

    On receipt, the grievance is reviewed and referred to the appropriate Student Grievance Redressal Committee for examination.

  3. Investigation and clarification

    The Committee may examine records, seek supporting information or obtain clarification from the learner and concerned department.

  4. Recommendation and decision

    The Committee considers the grievance and submits its report or recommendations to the competent University authority.

  5. Time-bound redressal

    The Committee endeavours to issue recommendations, where applicable, preferably within 15 working days.

Escalation Framework

Unresolved Grievances

Where a grievance remains unresolved by the Students' Grievance Redressal Committee, it may be referred to the Ombudsperson in accordance with the applicable framework.

  • Grievances not resolved by the Students' Grievance Redressal Committee may be referred to the Ombudsperson by the university;
  • The Ombudsperson shall, after giving reasonable opportunities of being heard to the parties concerned, on the conclusion of proceedings, pass such order, with reasons thereof, as may be deemed fit to redress the grievance and provide such relief as may be appropriate to the aggrieved student;
  • The aggrieved student shall be provided with copies of the order under the signature of the Ombudsperson;
  • The University shall comply with the recommendations of the Ombudsperson; and
  • The Ombudsperson may recommend appropriate action against the complainant, where a complaint is found to be false or frivolous.
